FCLV is proud to offer surrogacy for gay couples and single men
Surrogacy for gay couples and single men involves multiple steps, and the team at FCLV is happy to walk you through all of them. Our Las Vegas surrogacy experts want to make sure you understand the process and feel comfortable with it before moving forward on the path to parenthood. To help you learn more, here is some information about the surrogacy process for gay couples and single men.
Surrogacy for gay couples and single men is a multi-step process that starts with a consult
Your journey to bring home baby with help from surrogacy begins with an initial consultation with our Las Vegas surrogacy experts. This appointment can occur in person, over the phone or via Skype. During this time, you will meet your fertility doctor and IVF case manager. Your doctor will review your medical history and begin to develop an individualized treatment plan.
After your appointment, you will receive a welcome email from your IVF case manager that includes information about the next steps, recommended treatment and pricing information. You will then confirm when you are ready to proceed.
You or your partner, depending on who is providing the sperm, will undergo a semen analysis. The goal is to identify any potential barriers to conception. After testing, you will come to our clinic to provide a semen sample. Our team will then freeze your sperm for the upcoming surrogacy cycle.
Gay couples and single men need an egg donor and a gestational carrier
The next step on the journey of surrogacy for gay couples and single men is egg donor selection. Due to legal constraints, patients cannot use the same woman as their egg donor and gestational carrier. For your convenience, our Las Vegas surrogacy experts offer an in-house egg donor database. We offer a diverse pool of donors who are highly qualified and pre-vetted. You may select a donor from our pool or another egg donation agency.
Once you’ve selected a donor, she must undergo medical clearance and genetic testing. If the results show no issues, she can begin an egg retrieval cycle. During this time, she will take fertility medications to stimulate the development of multiple eggs and she will undergo egg retrieval at our office.
Our state-of-the-art laboratory will then fertilize the eggs using sperm from you, your partner or both. They will then freeze the resulting embryos. We can also perform preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) to screen for chromosomal abnormalities and determine the sex of each embryo.
Once you have embryos frozen, the next step is to select a gestational carrier, or a surrogate. Our Las Vegas surrogacy experts can connect you with a reputable surrogacy agency. Once you select your gestational carrier, she will undergo initial testing. After she receives medical clearance, she can undergo the embryo transfer procedure.
During embryo transfer, an FCLV fertility doctor will transfer one of your thawed embryos to the gestational carrier’s uterus. She will then take a pregnancy test 10 days after the procedure. For the first 10 weeks of pregnancy, our Las Vegas surrogacy experts will take care of her. After that, she will transition to the care of her OB/GYN doctor.
