Surrogacy for couples starts with a consultation with our team

The first step on your surrogacy journey is an initial consultation. You can meet with our Las Vegas surrogacy experts in person, over the phone or via Skype. The goal of this meeting is to introduce you to your fertility specialist and IVF case manager. Your doctor will also use this time to review your medical history and begin to develop a personalized treatment plan.

Your IVF case manager will send a follow up email after your appointment. It will contain information about the next steps, treatment recommendations and pricing. To start surrogacy for couples, you just need to email your case manager to let them know that you’re ready.

Surrogacy for couples differs depending on whether you need a sperm or egg donor

Your next steps will vary depending on whether you are using your own eggs and sperm, or will need a donor.

  • If you will not be using an egg or sperm donor, you and your partner will undergo fertility testing. The purpose is to determine whether there are any fertility issues. After this testing, the male partner will provide a semen sample and the female partner will begin taking medications for ovarian stimulation. When her eggs are mature, she will undergo egg retrieval. This is an outpatient procedure that involves light sedation.
  • If you will be using an egg donor, FCLV offers an in-house database of diverse and highly qualified and vetted egg donors. You can also select a donor from another egg donation agency or select someone you know to be your donor. This woman will have to pass medical and psychological screening.
  • If you will be using a sperm donor, our Las Vegas surrogacy experts can help you review your options. We can help you connect with a respected sperm bank, or you can select someone you know to be your sperm donor. However, this man must receive medical, psychological and legal clearance to be a donor.

Once we have the eggs and sperm you will use for your surrogacy for couples, our laboratory team will fertilize the eggs with the sperm. They will freeze all the resulting embryos. If you would like, they can also perform preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) to screen for chromosomal issues and determine each embryos’ sex.

The process of selecting a gestational carrier

The next step on your journey is selecting a gestational carrier. This woman is also known as a surrogate. After selecting your surrogate, she must undergo screening before we clear her to undergo embryo transfer.

During the transfer procedure, the doctor will transfer one embryo to the surrogate’s uterus. She will take a pregnancy test 10 days later. For the first 10 weeks of pregnancy, our Las Vegas surrogacy experts will care for her. After that, she will transition to the care of her OB/GYN doctor.
